Privacy Policy

Effective 9 October 2026

Your notes, recordings and transcripts are yours. They stay on your devices and in your private iCloud. We don’t run servers that store them, we can’t read them, and we don’t track you.

Who we are

Mikra Notes (“Mikra”, “we”) is an iPhone and iPad app made by David Yartey in Ghana, who is responsible for this policy and for any personal information described in it. Contact: hello@mikranotes.com.

What stays on your devices

Everything you write or record in Mikra is saved on your iPhone or iPad. If you’re signed in to iCloud and iCloud is on for Mikra (in the Settings app), it also syncs through your private iCloud database, which only you can access; Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy cover that storage. Turn sync off and your notes stay on that device only. We have no access to any of it.

Microphone

Mikra uses the microphone only while you’re recording, which you start yourself. A red marker shows whenever it’s on.

Camera

Mikra uses the camera only when you take a photo into a note. Photos are saved with the note: on your devices and, if you sync, your private iCloud.

Transcription

Transcripts are made on your device with Apple’s on-device speech recognition. The audio is never sent to us or anyone else to be transcribed. The first time, iOS downloads Apple’s speech model.

Bible text

The Berean Standard Bible, World English Bible and (outside the UK) King James Version are built into the app, so looking up a verse in them never goes over the network. If you choose a translation from YouVersion, such as the NIV, the chapter you open is requested from YouVersion: only the book, chapter and translation are sent, never your notes. As with any website, YouVersion sees your device’s internet address when it answers.

Link previews

Link previews are off unless you turn them on (You › Show Link Previews). When they’re on, Mikra asks the linked website (for a YouTube link, YouTube) for the page’s title and picture, so that site sees the request. Nothing else from the note is sent.

Messages you send us

If you report a problem or send feedback from the app, we receive what you write, the email address you give (if any), and, if you leave them included, the app version, iOS version and device model. They’re stored in Mikra’s iCloud database for feedback, which only we can read, and used only to answer you and improve Mikra. We never receive your notes. We keep these messages for up to two years, or delete them sooner if you ask.

Our lawful basis

Where data protection law (such as the UK GDPR and EU GDPR) applies, we handle the messages you choose to send us because you asked us to and on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you and improving the app. Everything else stays on your devices and in your iCloud, outside our reach.

No tracking, no selling

Mikra has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking, and it doesn’t need an account. We don’t sell or share personal information.

Where information is stored

iCloud data, including messages you send us, is stored by Apple, which may process it outside your country under its own safeguards.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete any message you’ve sent us by emailing hello@mikranotes.com. Your notes are already fully in your control: delete a note and it goes to Recently Deleted for 30 days, then it’s gone. Deleting the app removes what’s on your device; data in your iCloud can be removed in the Settings app under your name › iCloud. You can complain to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission, or, if you live in the UK or EU, to your own data protection authority. These rights are the same wherever you live.

Children

Mikra doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here and in the app, with its date.
